We’re thrilled that Reach Out and Read – and our National Medical Director Dr. Perri Klass – are featured in A Path Appears, the latest book by acclaimed New York Times columnist Nick Kristof and his wife, Sheryl WuDunn. The book includes a “sweeping tapestry of people who are making the world a better place and a guide to the ways that we can do the same – whether with a donation of $5 or $5 million, with our time, by capitalizing on our skills as individuals, or by using the resources of our businesses.”
In the book, Kristof and WuDunn write of Reach Out and Read: “It is an excellent example of a cost-effective, evidence-based program that helps kids in a crucial window of development.”
As Kristof and WuDunn – both Pulitzer Prize-winning journalists – have been crisscrossing the country on book tour, they’ve been highlighting Reach Out and Read as an organization of change. Click here to see if Kristof and WuDunn are hosting a book signing in your area.
During an appearance on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, Kristof and WuDunn specifically mentioned Reach Out and Read twice as a shining example of an organization that’s “doing it right”, and encouraged viewers to directly donate to our organization. We were also mentioned later that morning on MSNBC’s Krystal Clear’s show.

Kristof also excerpted the book – and mentioned Reach Out and Read – in a recent column in The New York Times.

Reach Out and Read is also featured in a four-hour PBS documentary of the same name.
